Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and these can be found on the Armed Forces Day website.

Locally we will be flying the Armed Forces Day flag from the Ilfracombe Centre and our nearest military case at RMB Chivenor are hosting an open day.

To continue the focus on our Armed Forces, Ilfracombe was fortunate to be included as a leg of the Royal Marines Global 1664 Challenge.

The challenge is a series of events taking place in 2017 with the aim of 100 Challenges being completed in 100 Days – an event that will involve all Royal Marines. The 1664 Global Challenge provides the opportunity and platform for the Corps’ family, both serving and retired to get involved towards fundraising efforts for The Royal Marines Charity.

The Royal Marines Charity website has the full details of the 1664 Global Challenge and here are a few photographs from the day.
