With the increase cost of living creating a real crisis for many people this winter, Ilfracombe Town Council, along with many other local authorities up and down the country, are looking to work with local groups and organisations to see on a local level, what can be done to support those in need.
We are looking for a wide range of community groups, organisations and businesses to join us as we look at what is already available in Ilfracombe, what is missing and how we look at filling that gap.
We have five main areas that we are focusing on:
1. Food Insecurity & Poverty
2. Fuel & Energy
3. Health & Wellbeing
4. Money & Debt
5. Transport
If you feel that your group, building, business etc. could support the community this winter then we would welcome you to join us.
We are looking for a wide range of groups as we know a lot of the time, the best ideas can come from thinking out of the box, so whether you are a part of a group who could crochet hats, or have a building with an underused kitchen then we’d love to see you there.
We need to be clear that this meeting isn’t an opportunity to get political grievances off your chest, but is a way of proactively looking together for local solutions – something which Ilfracombe has a great track record of doing.
We know that it is really important to listen to the voices of the people who are affected and are at risk of being affected, and we will do this in due course so please keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.
Please feel free to share this, or tag any groups and organisations that you think may be interested in attending.
It would be helpful if you could RSVP to neil.ingram@northdevon.gov.uk if you are planning on coming along, or if you can’t make the date but can offer some support please feel free to email us with your ideas.
