I have lived in Ilfracombe for 30 years and am retired from a career in IT.
I am a director of Greener Ilfracombe, the organisation responsible for Cow Green, May Day celebrations, Incredible Edible Ilfracombe and Waste Not projects.
I am an NHS campaigner, a member of the Combe Coastal Patient Participation Group (PPG), and the Tyrrell Hospital League of Friends. I think that local health services accessible to all are worth fighting for.
This is my second term as a West Ward Councillor. During my first term I chaired the Staffing committee for 2 years and was a member of the Finance and General Purposes committee. I also started a Youth Council, which I hope to continue: it gives children aged from 11 to 14 the opportunity to debate issues and give them a say in projects affecting the town.
I see immediate priorities for Ilfracombe being to develop strategies for reducing carbon emissions; to produce a neighbourhood plan so that we have better control of what gets developed and where; to support initiatives to improve health outcomes; to develop a youth voice via the Ilfracombe Youth Council; to support businesses and improve the built environment.
As a Councillor I hope to make a useful contribution to these priorities and to the continued development of our town.
