The League of Friends of the Tyrrell Hospital Ilfracombe have been running since 1972 and are effectively the “Guardians of the Tyrrell Hospital”.
The members of the league willingly give up their time to raise funds to support clinics with new equipment and items that are not funded by the NHS.
Ilfracombe Town Council are pleased to announce that the League have also very kindly agreed to continue funding the admin charges for the Community Car Service for the next 6 months. Over the past 6 months the £250+ they have donated has meant local Ilfracombe residents have been able to use the Community Car Service to attend medical appointments in Devon and Somerset.
On behalf of these residents the Town Council would like to say thank you to the League for their continued support.
In relying on volunteers the League are looking for new members to continue their good work by filling key roles in the organisation. These include:
2 General Committee Members
- Meet every 2nd Tuesday of each month with the committee
- Make decisions on funding spend
- Support the committee with updating the constitution
- Support Doctors at the Combe Coastal Practice with new projects
2 Volunteers required for the Tyrrell Hospital Shop
- ½ day a week minimum required
- Sorting stock
- Steam cleaning clothing
- Tagging with prices and sizes
