** NEWS ** OCTOBER 2016 – New number plate recognition cameras at Ropery Road
Ilfracombe Town Council has listened to feedback regarding the Ropery Road car park and has installed new parking equipment to make parking easier for locals and visitors alike.
With so much to do around the town and harbour and for those who are participating in boat and fishing excursions, people have reported that it can be difficult to know exactly how long they want to park. This dilemma has been solved with an equipment upgrade to the Ropery Road Car Park.
At no cost to Ilfracombe residents or Ilfracombe Town Council, the latest Automatic Number Plate Recognition Cameras (ANPR) has been installed. The system will require people to input their Registration numbers into the ticket machine, but will allow you to pay any outstanding charges on your return, up to midnight on the same day and will identify all cars entering the car park via the cameras now installed. The existing ‘pay by phone’ system will also remain and this is also linked in to the new camera system to offer an alternative cash free way to pay for or extend your parking, for example, if you’re on a boat trip.
Ilfracombe Town Council feel that this new equipment will benefit all and are happy to report that parking charges will stay the same for the next year, £1.00 per hour and £6.00 for 24 hours in Summer. Our winter rates will also stay the same at £0.60 per hour and £2.00 all day during the winter period.
There is also fresh new signage with lots of instructions on how to use the new system but if there are any questions or queries relating to the parking charges and procedures at Ropery Road, please contact Premier Park Ltd on the local rate number 0845 0772873.
