Strategic Development Plan 2010-2020
To help achieve and measure success, Ilfracombe Town Council believed it important to set itself and others who serve its community a cohesive and comprehensive ambitious plan to help improve the quality of the environment for the benefit of residents and the local economy, especially tourism - its major industry. For regeneration to be effective there needs to be a concerted approach to delivering projects in a prioritised way. Hence, Ilfracombe Town Council have developed our own Strategic Development Plan to help deliver modernisation for the town.

Ilfracombe Town Centre Study - October 2005 by Terence O’Rourke
The Community Alliance Strategic Action Plan (September 2004) identified three key areas of the town that needed to be explored in extra depth. These three were: the Larkstone/Brimlands youth and recreation area (headed by Paul Yabsley), the Harbour development and breakwater study (headed by Geoff Fowler), and the Town Centre area (headed by Paul Crabb). This study relates to the Town Centre and provides a general appraisal of key opportunities and constraints for development or enhancement within the town centre and assesses, in broad terms, the delivery of proposals. The study also considers public transport provision.

Ilfracombe Harbour Board - Strategic Development Plan 2009
The purpose of the Strategic Development Plan (SDP) is to convert the Ilfracombe Harbour Board’s (IHB) Vision and Mission into a strategy, define the current status of harbour use and affairs, and how best to address the requirements of the next 18 years. It expresses the IHB’s aim to provide excellent facilities for harbour users together with progressive improvements, whilst preserving the unique character of the harbour.
