Back to School Special
The start of the academic year isn’t far away now, and all children and young people in Ilfracombe will be required to go back to school, but things will be a little different to normal this year.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this autumn term might feel especially strange or worrying, and for many children it will be their first time back in the classroom since lockdown began or indeed their first day at school ever.
Our schools are experienced at managing risk and we have been working with them to make lots of changes in line with government guidelines to help keep staff, children and their families safe.
Going to school is an essential part of a child’s social, emotional and academic
development and, for them, the benefits greatly outweigh the risk posed by coronavirus.
Devon County Council have gathered some useful information resources to help you and your child prepare for September, including what safety measures will be in place, changes to school transport and how to support your child’s mental health. – You can find this information here
In Ilfracombe the Town Council, through One Ilfracombe, have been working with both Ilfracombe Academy and Ilfracombe CofE Junior School to ensure that children and their parents are fully informed as to the systems and procedures that are in place for the return to school in September.
Details for each school can be found on their respective websites.
